About Us

About The Zoo

The Zoo is the only indoor Skatepark in York, offering children and young people the opportunity to skate at a safe, community-focused and professionally run skatepark. There is a strong and growing community of people in York that love participating in skate sports, and we want The Zoo to be the destination for all of them.

We recently invested significant amounts of money to refurbish and modernise the Skatepark. We have big plans to make the skatepark accessible to a wider range of users, including disabled users, and to provide an alternative education offer for young people not in education, employment and training across the City.

Got an great idea for a new project at The Zoo?

Vinnie Whitehead - Operations director

Vinnie manages the day to day running of the Skatepark, as well as planning special events and organising the smooth-running of all private hire and Birthday party bookings.

Vinnie is a serious rollerblader and has been for over 20 years. He has skated in parks throughout the UK and Europe and spends most of his free time on the ramps at The Zoo.

Andy Simpson - Commercial Director

Andy has a wealth of experience in setting up and running successful socially-minded enterprises, so Vinnie asked him to come on board as a Director of Zoo to help develop the skatepark and make it sustainable for years to come.
